PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University field hockey team kick off the season with a home contest against William Smith College. The 6 p.m. matchup at Growney Stadium will begin the Cardinals pursuit of a third straight Empire 8 Championship.
Empire 8 Player To Watch
The Empire 8 released their
2022 season preview earlier in the week and named midfielder, Gianna Palma, as the Cardinal to watch. Palma is a four-time All-Empire 8 selection and enters her final season with 28 goals, 24 assists and 80 points in 66 career games.
On Top Of The Empire
St. John Fisher have been dominant in conference games. Since 2018, the field hockey team has a record of 26-1 and have secured a victory in 24 consecutive matches. They have outscored opponents 120-17 in their last 27 games and have recorded 15 shutouts.
Revenge Game
The 2021 campaign also began with a battle against the Herons. However, the Cardinals were on the losing end of a 5-4 double overtime thriller. The team will lean on Palma, along with four other 2021 All-Conference selections,

Rileigh Luste,
Sophia Trozzi and defensive player of the year,
Selena Emery.
