OSWEGO, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College women's tennis squad earned their first win of the season on Sunday for a 5-4 victory against the Oswego State Lakers at the Romney Tennis Courts. The Cardinals moved to 1-2 on the season while Oswego lost its second straight game and fell to 1-4.
Mikayla Santulli and
Kathryn Strait got things started early as they took a narrow 8-6 advantage in first doubles while
Keely Legnard and
Jacqueline Chouinard paired up for 8-1 dominance at second doubles.
Santulli and Legnard continued their winning ways in singles competition, as the two rolled their competition at 6-1, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-0 respectively. It all came down to Strait at first singles who battled through two sets and took the tiebreaker, securing the Cardinals' first team victory of the year.
Fisher has a few days of rest before they get back to their Empire 8 schedule as they travel to take on the Utica Pioneers this Saturday, September 18 at 1 P.M.
