ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College women's tennis had its five-match winning streak snapped on Saturday as the Cardinals were upended by the Nazareth College Golden Flyers, 7-2, in the team's regular season finale at Mendon Racquet and Pool Club. With the defeat, Fisher moved to 5-1 on the season and clinched the second overall seed in the upcoming Empire 8 Championship. The Golden Flyers improved to 6-0 on the year and clinched the Empire 8 Regular Season Championship and the top overall seed in next e championship tournament.
Fisher earned its only two points in singles play as
Valerie Morgans claimed third singles, 8-3, before
Jacqueline Chouinard posted a tightly contested fifth flight, 8-7.
The Cardinals have clinched an opening round bye and will play in the semifinal round of the Empire 8 Championship on Thursday at Mendon Racquet and Pool Club.
