PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College women's tennis team was unable to hand Nazareth College its first loss in conference play on Friday as the Cardinals fell to the Golden Flyers, 6-3, inside Mendon Racquet and Pool Club. With the loss, Fisher, which has already clinched a spot in the upcoming Empire 8 Championship, slipped to 4-4 overall and 3-2 in league play.
Prior to the match, Fisher honored its three seniors including
Mikayla Santulli,
Elizabeth Schneider and
Jacqueline Chouinard who have given so much to the program over the last four seasons and helped the Cardinals claim their first-ever Empire 8 Championship in 2019.
After falling in all three doubles matches, Fisher was able to get on the board in singles play after
Keely Legnard posted a 6-2, 6-4 decision at third singles.
Madison Galvin followed suit with a win at fourth singles, 1-6, 6-2, 7-5 while Chouinard was a winner in a marathon pairing at fifth singles, 6-2, 3-6, 14-12.
The Cardinals will be back in action at 5 p.m. on Saturday when they travel to Utica to take on the Russell Sage Gators in an Empire 8 clash.
