BUFFALO, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College men's soccer team settled for a draw on Monday night as the Cardinals tied Medaille College, 1-1, at the Medaille Sports Complex at Buffalo Color Park.  With the decision, Fisher moved to 2-4-2 while the Mavericks closed out the day at 5-3-1.

With the game still even midway through the first half of play, Matt Gentile sent a crossing pass in front of the cage that found the foot of Riley Rease who netted his team-leading fifth goal of the season to stake the Cardinals to a 1-0 lead in the 28th minute.

The advantage held for Fisher until the 52nd minute when Medaille unloaded a shot on goal that sailed into the top corner to even the contest at one goal aside.

As the game wore on, Fisher came away with six shots on the offensive end of the field including two on goal over the final 25 minutes of play, but was unable to net the difference maker as both teams prepped for overtime.

In the first extra period, the Cardinals controlled the tempo and had two shots in the first two minutes including one from Trevor Heschke that was knocked down by Medaille's keeper.

After 100 minutes of play and the game still deadlocked, head coach Jack Burgasser's team continued to press with Rease putting a shot on goal in the 104th minute, but the Mavericks were positioned perfectly to make the save and preserve the tie as the final horn sounded.

Jadon Schlierf moved to 2-4-2 on the season for Fisher as the sophomore made 10 saves in 110 minutes of play.

The Cardinals are set to return to league play at 6 p.m. on Saturday when they travel to Troy to take on the Russell Sage Gators.
