PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The Empire 8 Conference released its Indoor Track and Field All-Conference Awards for the 2019-2020 season and St. John Fisher College has been honored after winning the E8 Championships on both the men's and women's side.

Eddie Mahana and Kyle Rollins each took home E8 Men's Athlete of the Year awards for the second-straight year with Mahana recognized as the top track athlete and Rollins selected as the best Field Athlete in the conference.

Also earning major awards was the coaching staff of Mike Henchen, Geoffrey Grambo, Wenley Louis, Mike Van Auker, Dan Reynolds, Peter Girardi, Julianna Lauricella and Lauren Bamford. The Cardinals' coaches garnered Coaching Staff of the Year for men's and women's indoor track and field as the Fisher men won the E8 title for the second time in the three years while the women were crowned E8 Champions for the first time in program history.

Between the men's and women's squads, 23 athletes were all-conference honorees. Mahana and Rollins led the way with four selections a piece while on the women's side senior Tayler Dence earned three selections. To be named an all-conference selection, a student athlete must have finished in the top two of an event at the Conference's Championship Meet. Winners of the event are named to the First Team, while the Second Team is comprised of the runner-up from each event.

Along with his Men's Track Athlete of the Year honor, Mahana was First Team in the 60-meter hurdles event. In the race, the senior set a program and meet record of 8.02 seconds. The Clay native was also First Team in 400-meters and the 4x400 meter relay as well as Second Team in the 200-meters.

Rollins was the obvious choice for Men's Field Athlete of the Year with taking First Team in the high jump, long jump and triple jump. The junior was also Second Team in 60-meter hurdles for finishing behind Mahana in the Conference Championship finals.

Dence received First Team in the 60-meter hurdles for coming across the finish line first while posting a time of 9.37 seconds. The Hannibal native also nabbed Second Team in the 60-meters and 4x400 meter relay.

Sophomore Grant Stokoe also took three all-conference selections with First Team in the 800-meters by winning the race in 1:57.46. In addition, the Cortland native was recognized as First Team in the 4x400 meter relay and Second Team in the Mile.

Daniel Norris and Riley Corey each earned a pair of First Team honors. Norris won the 60-meters with a program-record time of 7.01 seconds and the 200-meters in 22.55 seconds. Corey came across the finish line first in the 3,000-meters in 10:43.51. The freshman also won the 5,000-meters in 18:34.21.

Ryan Desautels performed well in the throwing competitions by grabbing First Team in the shot put and Second Team in the weight throw. Senior Gabriella Dunkelberg was solid in the distance races by gaining First Team honors in the Mile and Second Team in the Distance Medley Relay.

Freshman Jonah Dean was part of the 4x400 relay team that won the race in 3:25.13. The Webster native also produced Second Team honors in the 400-meters. Jordan Lehman wrapped up Fisher's First Team all-conference honorees by winning the shot put.

The underclassmen trio of McKenna Cone, Olivia Pawlewicz and Breanna Lambert all took home multiple Second Team selections. Cone, the freshman, did it in the 60-meter hurdles and the long jump. Pawlewicz, the sophomore, was recognized in the 800-meters and Distance Medley Relay. The fellow sophomore Lambert was honored in the 4x400 meter relay and the Distance Medley Relay.

On the men's side, five more athletes were Second Team honorees. Andrew Ford in the 5,000-meters, Phoenix Palmer in the pole vault, Savion Joyles in the high jump, Chase Corcoran in the weight throw and Zak Kennedy in the 4x400 relay.

Kiersten Abbott and Amberlyn Robertson made up the rest of the 4x400 relay team to earn Second Team honors. Senior McKayla Crawford also garnered Second Team in the Distance Medley Relay.

Finally, Zachary Briggs and Maria Covelli were recognized as the Cardinals' representatives for E8 Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year. The Empire 8 Conference emphasizes that "Competing with Honor and Integrity" is an essential component of a student-athlete's experience in conjunction with an institution's educational mission. These honorees have distinguished themselves and consistently exhibit the critical traits as outstanding sportsmen and sportswomen.
