PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College women's tennis team locked up its first Empire 8 Conference victory over Elmira College, 8-1. The win moved Fisher to 2-0 on the year, and a 1-0 conference standing. With the loss Elmira dropped to 0-4, and 0-2 in the Empire 8.
The Cardinals picked up right where they left off on Friday and swept through all three doubles matches.
Kaili Saffran and Cassidy Bell teamed up to take first doubles, 8-4. In second doubles Caroline Seaberg and Grace Peter paired up to take the match 8-3 before Valerie Morgans and Jackie Chouinard took home their first victory in third doubles, 8-4.
Fisher stayed hot and cruised through five of six singles matches. Saffran led off with a 6-2, and 6-1 score finish in first singles before Bell swept second singles with scores of 6-0, and 6-1.
Senior Caroline Seaberg nabbed third singles for the Cardinals after she dropped her opponent 6-0, and 6-1, while Amanda Thongsirimonghoun stole fourth singles 6-1, and 6-2.
Zuzanna Pociecha did not let up a single set in fifth singles as she wrapped up the wins for the Cardinals.
Fisher steps back onto the court at 1 p.m. on Sunday, September 16th as the team is slated to head to Oswego to take on the Lakers.
