BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College men's soccer team scored its first goal of the 2018 season, however the team fell in non-conference action to the College at Brockport Golden Eagles, 4-1. With the loss the Cardinals dropped to 0-5, while the Golden Eagles advanced to 4-1 overall.
The Golden Eagles opened up the scoring in the first five minutes of action, despite Joe Catalfamo's strong play in net.
Fisher would fire off a few shots of its own, but could not find the back of the net while Brockport scored on two more occasions in the 26th and 28th minutes.
The Cardinals ripped three total shots in the first half with Zachary Munski, Joe Balls and Aaron Wilkins each taking a shot apiece.
Fisher would come out aggressive in the second half taking four more shots. Junior midfielder Balls found the back of the net for the first time this season in the closing minutes of competition.
The Cardinals round out the game with seven total shots on the night as Balls led the team with three, while Wilkins, Munski, Steve Castellini and Glenn Roschetzky each registered one.
Senior captain Catalfamo took the loss in net and recorded one total save in the first half. Justin Miles would come in relief and tallied four saves of his own.
Fisher steps into Empire 8 Conference play at 1 p.m. on Saturday as the Cardinals are slated to take on the Ducks of Stevens Institute of Technology at Growney Stadium.
