BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College women's soccer team fell in a non-conference bout against The College at Brockport, 4-0. With the loss, the Cardinals fall to 0-3, while the Golden Eagles move to 2-1.
Brockport struck right off the bat, scoring in just the third minute of the match. The Golden Eagles would not let up scoring on two more occasions with eight total shots in the half. The Cardinals were unable to generate a scoring opportunity, while being held to zero shots.
Melissa McGowan started the game at goalkeeper for Fisher, recording four saves in the first 45 minute of play.
The Cardinals turned up the tempo in the second half, outshooting the Golden Eagles 5-2, with three of those shots being on goal.
Gabriella Borrelli blasted two shots of her own, while
Jackie Romano,
Abigail Dwyer and
Hannah Buschner all tallied one shot a piece.
Despite the solid second half effort, Brockport would come away with the win, adding a fourth goal in the 53rd minute.
McGowan took the loss in net, making four total saves in 90 minutes of play on the day.
Fisher returns to the field at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Marietta College as the Cardinals take on the Pioneers.
