Rascoe’s Late Winner Keeps Women’s Soccer Perfect in Empire 8

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – Emma Rascoe broke a 1-1 tie with 4:11 left in regulation as the St. John Fisher University women's soccer team edged Keuka College, 2-1, in Empire 8 action Saturday at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex.

The Cardinals improve to 9-1-0 overall and remain unbeaten in conference play at 5-0-0. Keuka falls to 4-6-0 and 0-5-0 in the Empire 8.

How It Happened

Fisher opened the scoring in the 17th minute. Less than a minute after a Cardinals corner kick, Morgan Tara finished unassisted at 16:15 for her fourth goal of the season.

Keuka answered at 27:50, converting off a corner kick to level the match. The teams went to halftime tied 1-1, with each side recording six shots in the opening 45 minutes.

The second half belonged to the Cardinals. Fisher outshot Keuka 12-1 after the break. Francesca Logrippo rattled the right post at 48:25, and Emily Woolingham forced four saves over the final 35 minutes as the Cardinals kept up the pressure.

The breakthrough finally came late. Rascoe re-entered the match at 83:52 and, less than two minutes later, buried the game-winner unassisted at 85:49 for her first goal of the season. The Fisher defense made the lead hold, keeping Keuka without a shot on goal for the entire second half.
