PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College women's tennis team came off a week long break, with a 7-2 victory against the SUNY Cortland Red Dragons in a non-conference matchup. Fisher advances to 4-1 overall, while Cortland falls to 5-3 on the year.
The Cardinals came away with five wins in singles matches on the day, starting with Kaili Saffran wiining first singles in straight sets, 6-2 and 6-0. After dropping second singles, Fisher would not lose again. Sarah Sorrentino, Cassidy Bell, Amanda Pendergast and Caroline Seaberg all won in straight sets against their Red Dragon opponents.
Again, the Cardinals would come out on top in doubles matches, winning two out of the three matchups. Saffran and Bell defeated their opponents, 8-2, in first doubles and Seaberg and Grace Peter coming out victorious in third doubles, 8-2.
Fisher jumps right back into action at 1 p.m. on Saturday against the Hartwick College Hawks in its fourth conference pairing.
