The St. John Fisher College women's tennis team closed out competition during its spring break campaign on Thursday, taking on the Cardinals of Catholic University.
Catholic University defeated Fisher 9-0, sweeping in both singles and doubles action. Doubles play was the most competitive for Fisher, as first flight partners
Olivia Rotondo and
Taylor Slink were defeated 8-3, and second spot partners
Katey Padden and
Sarah Sorrentino lost 8-4. In the third spot was
Amanda Pendergast and
Caroline Seaberg, who played a closer match, only losing 8-4.
In singles play, Padden was beaten in straight sets by the Cardinal's top challenger 6-0, 6-0. Sorrentino would play in the second spot, losing 6-0, 6-1, while in the third flight was Slink, who would also be taken down 6-0, 6-1. Seaberg and Rotondo would be defeated in fourth and fifth singles, respectively.
Fisher ends its 2016-17 season with an overall record of 5-10 overall, and an Empire 8 Conference record of 3-5.
