ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College women's tennis team dropped the 8-1 decision against the Nazareth College Golden Flyers in Empire 8 Conference action. With the loss, Fisher falls to 7-2 on the season and 5-2 in Empire 8 play. Nazareth advances to 7-0 on the year, while moving to 6-0 in the conference.
Fisher's lone victory of the day came in sixth singles when Caroline Seaberg defeated her Nazareth opponent, 6-3 and 7-6. Kaili Saffran also battled her opponent into three close sets, eventually falling in first singles with scores of 6-4, 1-6 and 8-10.
The Cardinals would compete in all three rounds of doubles, but would eventually fall to their Golden Flyer opponents. Saffran and Cassidy Bell fell in a close 8-6 match against the Golden Flyers, while Taylor Slink and Amanda Pendergast would earn five game wins, eventually dropping the match 8-5 in second doubles.
Fisher closes out its Empire 8 Conference schedule at 1 p.m. on Saturday against The Sage Colleges at Mendon Racquet Club.
