PITTSFORD, N.Y - The St. John Fisher College women's soccer team fell 2-0 in a non-conference pairing against the University of Rochester Yellowjackets. The Cardinals now stand at 3-7-1 overall in their 2017 campaign, while the Yellowjackets move to 6-3-1 on the year.
The lone goal of the half came in the 15th minute of the contest. The Yellowjackets jumped on the board when a player found open space and fired a shot from 25 yards out, putting the ball just out of
Melissa McGowan's reach.Â
At the half, Fisher attempted three shots with one shot on goal and registered a single corner kick.
Elise Olivo led the way for Fisher in the half, taking two of the three shot attempts, while
Nora Broderick was credited for the third shot.
McGowan would keep the deficit to one heading into the second half, stopping three Rochester shots.
The second half of the contest was a back and forth battle, until Rochester struck again late in the contest finishing the game with the 2-0 edge over Fisher.
Fisher would finish the game registering six total shots on the day. Olivo would end the day blasting three total shots, while Broderick,
Logan Chase and
Makenzie Winslow each recorded a single shot apiece.
McGowan would suffer the loss in net, tallying eight total stops on the day, over 90 minutes of play.
The Cardinals return to Empire 8 Conference action at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday in an Alumni Weekend showdown with the Utica College Pioneers.
