Women's Tennis Secures First Conference Win

RESULTS

The St. John Fisher women's tennis team remains undefeated this season as the squad took down Houghton College 6-3 at home on Saturday afternoon. With the victory, the Cardinals improve to 2-0 on the season while the Highlanders drop to 0-1.

Fisher got things took the early team lead in doubles as it nabbed two of the possible three points. Sarah Sorrentino and Taylor Slink teamed up at first to beat their opponents 8-6 while Amanda Pendergast and Caroline Seaberg defeated their counterparts 8-3 in the third slot.

In singles play, Slink (third), Pendergast (fifth) and Seaberg (sixth) all cruised to victories, earning the Cardinals another three points.

The final team point of contest came from Katey Padden at second singles. The senior pulled out a narrow 7-6 victory in the first set before earning a convincing 6-2 second set win.

Fisher will return to the courts at 4 p.m. on Wednesday as it takes on conference-foe Alfred University on the road.
