The St. John Fisher College women's tennis team fell 8-1 to Nazareth College Friday afternoon at the Mendon Tennis Club. With the loss, Fisher moves to 3-2 on the year and 2-2 in the conference. Nazareth improves to 1-2 overall.
Fisher's sole point came from
Caroline Seaberg at sixth singles. After dropping the first set 6-1, the sophomore flipped a switch and took the second set 6-3. Seaberg then battled hard in the third set (a 10-point tie break), earning the 14-12 victory.
The Cardinal's came close to taking another point at fifth singles as
Amanda Pendergast took the first set 7-5. Her counterpart was able to force a third set and narrowly edged Pendergast in the tie break 10-8.
Fisher will resume action at 4 p.m. on Tuesday with another conference game, this time against Elmira College.
