The St. John Fisher College baseball team lost 9-4 to Ohio Northern University on Monday at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational in Auburndale, Florida.

Following the loss, Fisher now stands at 3-2 on the season while the Polar Bears improve to 2-1 with the win.

The Cardinals started the contest strong, scoring a run a piece between the second and third innings to jump out to a 2-0 lead. In the bottom of the second inning it was
Victor Konstantinovsky scoring on an error by the pitcher before
Ryan Prevost scored in the third inning when
Scott Eisenmenger drove him home on a single.

Ohio Northern would charge back in the top of the sixth inning however, as it tallied five runs in the frame to take the 5-2 advantage over Fisher. The Polar Bears would then tack on another run in the top of the seventh to take a four-run lead.

In the bottom of the seventh,
Jack Trotman hit a double for the Cardinals to drive in two runs and make it a 6-4 game. That would be as close as Fisher would come however, as Ohio Northern added three more runs in the ninth before going on to beat the Cardinals by five runs.

Terry Engels started for Fisher and pitched 5.1 innings as he gave up five runs on seven hits while also striking out six batters.

Trotman finished the game 1-for-4 from the plate with two RBI while Eisenmenger went 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Konstantinovsky scored two runs for Fisher and
Evan Ryan also scored a run after batting 1-for-4 in the game.

The Cardinals will have tomorrow off before returning to action at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday when they take on Neumann University in Winter Haven, Florida.
