The St. John Fisher College field hockey team defeated Ithaca College 3-0 at home during Alumni Weekend on Saturday.
After a scoreless first half, Fisher rallied for three goals in the second half to improve their season record to 8-2 overall, and 4-0 in the Empire 8 Conference.
Both goalies made crucial saves in the first half, Fisher keeper
Ashley Maynard was credited with the shut out, finishing with three saves on the day.
Nineteen minutes into the second,
Emily Markarian took off with the ball and ran for 60 yards, eventually taking a shot that rebounded off the keeper which
Lauren Fazio collected and sent a straight to the back of the cage for the first goal of the game.
Just minutes later the Cardinals got another fast break, this time several players running into the circle before Reagan Amaroso passed the ball off to Markarian for an open-net goal.
Late corners from Ithaca gave scoring opportunities, but the Bombers couldn't connect.
The Cardinals broke away again late in the game as Bergamo scored with just 4:48 left after grabbing a rebounded shot by
Lindsay Scott.
The Cardinals return to action at 5 p.m. on Tuesday when they travel across the city to take on nationally-ranked University of Rochester.
