The St. John Fisher College women's tennis team lost its opening match of the season 8-1 to The College at Brockport on Friday at the Mendon Racquet and Pool Club.
 
The Cardinals, who hosted the match, picked up a point in sixth singles as junior Eileen Fleming took the decision 2-6, 6-1 (8-6).
 
Fisher's best shot at a point in double competition came in first doubles as junior Olivia Rotundo and sophomore Sarah Sorrentino were defeated 8-5.
 
The Cardinals hit the courts again on Sunday as they travel to Houghton College to take on the Highlanders.
