The St. John Fisher College women's tennis team defeated Utica College on the road in an Empire 8 Conference matchup on Saturday.
The win marked the first of the season for the Cardinals as they improve to 1-9 on the season and wrap-up conference play with a 1-7 record.
Fisher won five out of six singles matches on the day, all of which by straight sets.
Sarah Sorrentino won first singles (6-2, 6-2), Amanda Pandergast took second singles (6-1, 6-1), and
Katey Padden picked up the third singles victory (6-2, 6-2).
Also winning singles matches for the Cardinals were
Caroline Seaberg who won fifth singles (6-1, 6-2) and
Eileen Fleming, who took sixth singles (6-1, 6-1).
In doubles competition, Fisher swept all three matches as Sorrentino and Rotondo won 8-3 in first doubles while Padden and Seaberg won 8-2 in second doubles. Claire Herrman and Pendergast won in third doubles by a score of 8-0.
The Cardinals will be back in action at 4 p.m. on Friday when they head to Geneva to take on William Smith College in their final match of 2015.
