The St. John Fisher College field hockey team trounced host Keuka College 8-0 in its game on Tuesday. With the win, Fisher improves to 9-3 overall, while Keuka falls to 2-9. The Cardinals are undefeated in their last three games and have won six of their last seven contests.
The Cardinals scored three goals in the first five minutes of play, the first from
Sarah Bisesi assisted by
Emily Markarian just one minute into the game.
The second goal was netted by freshman
Lauren Fazio in the fourth minute from
Elizabeth Cusack.
Cusack scored next notching her eighth goal of the season, unassisted in the fifth minute.
The Cardinals would not score again until the 14
th minute when
Noel Smith dished
Jill Alaimo in the circle who found the back of the cage bringing the score to 4-0.
Hannah Cooper recorded her first goal of the season 20 minutes into the game on a double assist from
Sarah Thomas and Alaimo.
Fisher's offense would continue to dominate the first half when
Keeley Samsonik assisted
Lexi Foley in the 27
th minute.
The final scoring play of the half was a goal tallied off a penalty corner by
Courtney Wittmeyer on an assist from Samsonik.
The lone goal of the second half came in the 61st minute on shot from
Alexandrea Malley.
Goalkeeper
Danielle Famolaro was credited with the shutout and recorded one save.
Fisher field hockey returns to action at 1 p.m. on Saturday when it travels to take on Elmira College for an Empire 8 Conference matchup.
