The St. John Fisher College women's tennis squad earned its first win of the season Saturday as the host Cardinals defeated Utica College 8-1 and the Mendon Racquet Club.

Fisher improves to 1-4 on the year and 1-3 in the Empire 8 Conference.

Catie Nonenmacher, Sarah Sorrentino, and Alissa Cornacchia each one their singles and doubles matches to help Fisher cruise to the victory.  Nonenmacher took second singles 6-2, 6-1, Sorrentino notched a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at third singles, while Cornacchia earned a 6-1, 6-0 victory at fourth singles.

Sania Zaki was victorius in first singles and Teagan Zingg earned a win at fifth singles.

Eileen Fleming and Amanda Pendergast led the Cardinals to an 8-1 win at first doubles, while Taylor Duquette and Sorrentino earned an 8-4 win at second doubles.  Cornacchia and Zing rounded out the scoring with an 8-3 win at third doubles.

Fisher's match scheduled for tomorrow (9/21) has been postponed due to weather. 

The Cardinals will return to action at 4 p.m. Friday when they will travel to Oswego for non-conference action.
