The St. John Fisher College field hockey team defeated non-conference opponent Oswego State 2-0 on Tuesday. With the win, the Cardinals move to 8-3 on the season, while the Lakers drop to 3-7.
Â
In the first 35 minutes, Fisher fired 17 shots toward Oswego's goalkeeper Sarita Charap, yet the scored remained 0-0 at the end of the first half.
Â
That would soon change, as
Emily Markarian would score her seventh goal of the year just a minute and a half into the second half. The freshman settled a ball off of a Laker deflection and slid it past Charap.
Â
Stacie Skidmore provided Fisher with an insurance goal with just two minutes remaining in regulation time.
Alexandrea Malley tallied the assist after she found Skidmore within the arc for her ninth goal of the season.
Â
Danielle Famolaro made four saves in the full 70 minutes in goal.
Â
Fisher returns to action at 12 p.m. Saturday against host Nazareth College for an Empire 8 matchup.
