The St. John Fisher College field hockey team came up short against SUNY Cortland, falling to the host Red Dragons 4-0.
With the loss, Fisher moves to 2-2 on the season, while Cortland climbs to 3-0.
The Red Dragons struck early and often, scoring the game's first goal midway through the first half before netting another only seconds before the halftime whistle sounded.
As the second stanza got underway, Cortland padded its lead, scoring its third goal on a penalty corner. The home team notched its fourth and final goal in the 65
th minute on a one-timer from the right side.
The Cardinals looked to turn up their intensity, but were stymied by Cortland's defense, which allowed only two shots the entire game.
Elizabeth Cusack had Fisher's lone shot on goal, while
Sarah Bisesi found some daylight and ripped a shot that sailed wide of the goal.
The Cardinals will play their second of three consecutive road games at 5 p.m. in Troy, NY against Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
