The St. John Fisher College men's soccer team dropped their home –opener Wednesday night, 2-0, to the Brockport Golden Eagles.
After a scoreless first half, Brockport found the back of the net just seven minutes into the second stanza off a goal from Peter DiLorenzo. The sophomore stole the ball from a Fisher defender and shot it into the far post from outside the eighteen yard box.
Fisher's best opportunity to tie the score came in the 80
th minute when junior
Joel Castellini headed a cross from the right flank into the hands of Brockport goalkeeper Casey Sullivan. Brockport won the shot battle with eight, compared to Fisher's four.
The Golden Eagles sealed the victory in the 88
th minute when Paul Altobelli cleaned up a rebound after the initial shot from Chris O'Gorman was saved by goalkeeper
Kyle Metcalfe.
With the win the Golden Eagles improve to 3-0, while the Cardinals fall to 2-1.
Fisher is back in action on Saturday when they will travel to the University of Scranton for a 4:30 p.m. start time.
