The St. John Fisher College field hockey team picked up a pivotal win on Saturday, as the Cardinals recorded a 3-0 victory over host Elmira College in an Empire 8 Conference matchup.

With the win, Fisher improves to 5-4 overall and 2-1 in the Empire 8, while the Soaring Eagles fall 1-5 and 0-3 respectively.

Fisher took a 1-0 lead at the half, as freshman Bailee Barrett scored off a pass from Stacie Skidmore. The Cardinals pushed their lead to 2-0 early in the second half, as Skidmore picked up her second assist of the game, with Elizabeth Cusack scoring the goal.

Noelle Knox sealed the win with just under 10 minutes remaining, scoring off her own rebound.

Goalie Danielle Famolaro stopped six shots, marking her third shutout of the year.

Fisher returns to action at 6 p.m. on Tuesday and will host nationally-ranked University of Rochester.
