The St. John Fisher College women's tennis team used strong singles performances to defeat Hartwick, 5-4, Sunday at the Mendon Racquet Club. Fisher won four of six singles matches, and one doubles match to secure the victory.

Senior Lauren Burke and freshman Abbey Buscaglia won second doubles 8-4 and took care of business in their singles matches.  Buscaglia won third singles 6-1, 7-6, 7-5 while Burke won fourth singles 7-5, 6-1.

Katie Pasier and Catie Nonenmacher rounded out the scoring for Fisher.

With the win the Cardinals improve to 2-3 overall and 2-2 in the Empire 8.

Fisher is back in action at 4 p.m. Saturday when it hosts William Smith College.
