Men's Soccer Can't Hold Early Lead

BOX SCORE

The St. John Fisher College men's soccer team couldn't hold an early lead, as the Hobart College Statesmen came from behind to claim a 2-1 win Tuesday night at Cozzens Field in Geneva, NY.

With the loss, Fisher dips to 2-3, while Hobart improves to 3-2.

After a scoreless first half of play, Matt Silvi gave the visiting Cardinals a 1-0 lead when he one-timed a Danny Yancone pass from the top of the box in the game's 51st minute.

The lead would be short lived however, as only eight minutes later, Hobart leveled the score at one goal apiece.  The Statesmen scored the go-ahead goal in the 62nd minute and would hang on for the win despite a late corner kick opportunity that the Cardinals could not convert.

Hobart kept Kyle Metcalfe on his toes, firing 17 shots at the junior goaltender, six of which were recorded as saves.

The Cardinals will return to action at 7 p.m. on September 18 against Keuka College at Growney Stadium.
