Nick Flemister went 4-for-4 with five RBI to lead the baseball team to a 7-4 win over host SUNY Oswego on Wednesday in the first game of a doubleheader. The second game was canceled due to inclement weather.
Sean Badger went five innings to earn the win, raising his record to 4-1, while sophomore
Thomas Dybas earned the save, recording the final four outs of the game. With the win, Fisher improves to 14-7, while Oswego, who defeated SUNY Cortland – then the No. 1 ranked team in the nation just six days ago – falls to
10-10.
Fisher trailed 2-1 after two innings, but took the lead for good with a two-run double down the left-field line from Flemister, making it 3-2. The Cardinals tacked on three more in the fourth.
Mike Fahy singled to score
Tim Coykendall and Flemister added a two-run single, scoring
Sean Osterman and Fahy.
Flemister was at it again in the sixth, doubling in Osterman, to finished with five RBI and four hits (both career highs).
Fahy finished with two runs scored and three stolen bases, while
Mike Roman also picked up two hits and two stolen bases. As a team, Fisher was a perfect 8-for-8 in base stealing.
The Cardinals return action at 4 p.m. on Friday and will host Cazenovia College.
