D'Amato Becomes College's All-Time Leader In Wins

Justin D'Amato of the St. John Fisher College baseball program became the College's all-time leader in wins on Saturday, picking up his 23rd career victory, as Fisher downed host Stevens Institute of Technology 6-1 in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday.

Game One – Fisher 6, Stevens 1

D'Amato scattered two hits over seven innings and struck out eight batters in the win, raising his record to 3-0 on the year and 23-2 for his career.  The junior southpaw, who set Fisher's career record for strikeouts earlier this year, has 212 Ks over his three-year career.   The two-time All-American hasn't suffered a loss since 2011 and owns a 1.88 ERA on the year.

Brad Rush led Fisher offensively, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, including a solo home run.  Ben Webb went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, while Ben Bostick added two hits and two runs scored.  Shane Barley and Chris Roeder also enjoyed a multi-hit game.

Game Two – Stevens 6, Fisher 5

The Cardinals jumped out to 5-0 after two innings, but the Ducks rallied for four runs the final two innings.  The Ducks scored three in the sixth to tie the game and ended the contest in the seventh with a bases-loaded, walk-off single.

Rush ripped a three-run homer down the line in left in the first inning and Barley added a solo shot to right in the second inning.  Mike Fahy also drilled an RBI-double.

Fisher (10-7 overall, 2-2 Empire 8) returns to action on Tuesday and will host University of Rochester.
