Men's Soccer Closes Out 2013 With 3-0 Loss at Houghton

The St. John Fisher College men's soccer team closed out its season with a 3-0 loss to the Houghton College Highlanders, Saturday in Houghton, N.Y.

Fisher ends its season with a 5-10-2 overall record.

Houghton, now 14-2-1 scored the eventual game-winning goal in the 19th minute of play as Mitch Beattie chipped a ball from 10 yards out that Fisher goalie, Kyle Metcalfe couldn't quite reach.

The Highlanders added to their lead with another goal in the 36th minute, this time scoring off a rebound to make it 2-0.

Fisher tried to mount a second-half comeback blasting seven shots in the frame, but it was not to be as Houghton registered an insurance goal to put the game out of reach.

Thomas Goetze and Matt Silvi had a team-high two shots in the loss, while Alex Stryker, Jesse Marano and Joey Plummer each had one shot.
