Men's Soccer Blanks Elmira To Halt Losing Streak

The St. John Fisher College men's soccer team ended its three-game losing streak with a 1-0 shutout win at Elmira College, Saturday afternoon at Campus Field in Elmira, N.Y.

With the win, Fisher moves to 3-6-1 on the season and 1-2 in the Empire 8 standings.

Chris Ferrara scored the game's only goal in the 69th minute of action when Joel Castellini kicked a ball that crossed in front of the Elmira net as Ferrara used his head to redirect the ball into the top left corner of the net to halt Fisher's four-game scoreless drought.

Both teams fired 12 shots in the game, however, Fisher's defense only allowed one shot on goal in the contest.

 Kyle Metcalfe earning his third shutout of the season after making one save.  Danny Yancone, Jake Quattrini and Ferrara each had two shots, while six other players were able to put a ball on net.

The Cardinals return to Growney Stadium at 4 p.m. on Tuesday against St. Lawrence in what is the first of three consecutive home games.
