The St. John Fisher College field hockey team scored two goals in a 13-second span to help lift the Cardinals to a 3-0 win over visiting Washington & Jefferson College in a pivotal Empire 8 Conference matchup.
With the win, Fisher, competing in just its third season as an NCAA Division III program has tied the College-record for wins in a season with six and still has at least seven games left to play.
The victory also raises Fisher's record to 3-1 in the Empire 8 Conference, good for third place in the Conference standings. The top four teams at the end of the regular season will advance to the Empire 8 Championship with the winner earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship.
Fisher took the lead for good on a goal from
Marissa Vedella in the 25th minute.
Elizabeth Cusack followed that up with a score of her own off a pass from
Stacie Skidmore with 6:03 left in the half. Just 13 seconds later, Skidmore scored to give the Cardinals a 3-0 halftime lead.

Danielle Famolaro finished the game with 5 saves to earn her fourth shutout of the season.
Fisher will return to action at 1 p.m. on Sunday and will host SUNY Oneonta.
