Women's Tennis Loses to Elmira College

The St. John Fisher College women's tennis team lost to visiting Elmira College 6-3 on Saturday afternoon at Mendon Racquet Club.  With the loss, Fisher falls to 1-5 on the year and 1-4 in the Empire 8.  Elmira improves to .500 overall, holding a 4-4 season record while going 2-3 in the conference thus far.

Jennifer Lehner and Lauren Burke earned points for Fisher during single play.  After dropping the first set 7-5, Lehner, playing at second singles, went on to win the next two 6-0, 10-6 to defeat Melanie Walker.  Burke also lost her first set, as she was shutout 6-0.  However, the junior responded by taking down Kayla Fitzgerald 6-1 in both the second and third set to win the third singles match-up.

The duo of Lehner and Kathryn Pasier earned Fisher's final point at first doubles, beating Walker and Amy Schmidt 8-6.

Fisher will return to action at 1 p.m. on Sunday when it travels to William Smith College to face the Herons.
