Men's Soccer Halted by Rochester

The St. John Fisher College men's soccer team fell 2-0 to the visiting University of Rochester Yellowjackets on Tuesday night at Growney Stadium. With the loss the Cardinals drop to 5-3-1 while Rochester improves to 6-1.

Fisher's best chance came on a free kick in the 74th minute when Austin Buckley drilled a shot towards the right side of the goal, but the diving Yellowjackets keeper stopped the attempt to keep the scoreboard clean.

Rochester first scored in the 35th minute when Jack Thesing redirected a pass from Jarvis D'Souza for a quick touch goal. Just four minutes later Jakob Seidlitz added the Yellowjacket's final goal, taking a free kick for the score.

Buckley and Stefan John had three shots apiece for Fisher, while Kyle Metcalfe had one stop on the night. Fisher outshot Rochester 11-9 but the Yellowjackets took seven corners to the Cardinals none.

The Cardinals will return to action at 7 p.m. on Thursday night when they travel to Alfred University for an Empire 8 Conference matchup.
