Women's Soccer Scores Five In Season-Opening Victory

The St. John Fisher College women's soccer team opened the 2012 season on the right foot, as the Cardinals tallied five goals in a 5-2 win over Drew University on Friday afternoon at the Cyclone Kickoff Classic, hosted by Centenary College.

Fisher led 2-1 at the half, but pulled away, thanks to two goals in a 2:06 span early on in the final period.

Laura Burgstrom scored the eventual game-winning goal 55:20 into the game and just over two minutes later, Alexandra Rohloff scored her second goal of the contest off a pass from Krista PillaVal Hanson added an insurance goal in the 78th minute. 

Fisher jumped out to a 2-0 lead to take command.  Chelsea Oberkrieser opened the score in the sixth minute with Rohloff assisting.   Nearly nine minutes later, Oberkrieser returned the favor, setting up Rohloff for her first goal of the year.

Jessica Plukas made one save in the first half to earn the win in goal.  Sydney DeVitto made two saves in net, while playing the final 45 minutes.

Fisher will return to action on Saturday and will face Albion College.  Centenary defeated Albion 7-1 in Friday's other opening round game.
