The St. John Fisher College baseball team scored two runs in each of the first three innings and picked up an 8-5 win at University of Rochester on Wednesday afternoon.
With the win, Fisher improves to 19-8 overall.
The Cardinals led 6-1 after three innings, but Rochester scored the game's next four runs and trailed by just one after seven. Fisher tacked on two runs in the top of the eighth and relievers
Jeremy Willard and
Thomas Dybas sealed the win, retiring the next six Yellowjackets in order. Dybas, who pitched the ninth, recorded his fourth save of the year.
Fisher's leadoff and No. 2 hitter - seniors
Steve Karnyski and
Peter Krysztof - accounted for half of Fisher's hits, runs and RBI on the day. The duo also swiped five bags, with Karnyski stealing three. Karnyski went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, while Krsztof went 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.
Freshman pitcher
Jordan Doroshenko pitched 1.2 innings in relief to earn his first career win.
Fisher will return to action this weekend with a huge three-game series vs. Ithaca College at Fisher's Dugan Yard.
