D'Amato Perfect Through Three as Cardinals Defeat Oneonta

Box Score

The St. John Fisher College baseball team routed SUNY Oneonta 12-4 on an overcast Tuesday afternoon game at the Cardinals' Dugan Yard. With the win, Fisher moves to 15-7 on the year while Oneonta falls to 12-14.

Justin D'Amato started on the hill, pitching three innings of perfect baseball, allowing no hits or walks before being relieved for later use this week in conference play. The lefty also had four strikeouts in the outing while moving to 6-0 on the season.

Pete Krysztof gave the Cardinals a spark in the bottom of the first when he blasted a shot over the left field fence to push Fisher ahead 1-0, a lead it would never relinquish. Ben Ward and Ben Bostick also drove in runs for the Cardinals in the first, with Ward plating Sean Osterman after Osterman reached on a triple.

Bostick was not done, hitting a bomb of his own in the third inning, with Osterman and Matt Klock on base for the three-run jack.
Fisher brought out a barrage of pitchers in the contest, using George Weber, Jordan Doroshenko, Adam Pettinella and Ryan Smith in an inning apiece before Kieran Murphy closed up the last two innings.

At the dish, seven Cardinals got hits, led by Ward's 3-for-3 day with three runs scored and a RBI. Osterman and Bostick also finished with multiple hits, each ending with two, and Bostick leading the team with five RBI. Osterman, like Ward, crossed the plate three times while driving in a run and Krysztof was the only other Cardinal to have multiple RBI, finishing with two.

The Cardinals will return to action at 12 p.m. on Saturday when it travels to Hoboken, NJ to face Empire 8 foe Stevens Institute of Techonology.
