Box Score
The St. John Fisher College men's soccer team lost to Stevens Institute 2-0 on Saturday in a game that determined the No. 1 seed for the Empire 8 Championship. The Cardinals will still move on to post-season play, but will not have the highest seed when the time comes. The loss was the first for conference play for Fisher, dropping them to 4-1-1 and 9-5-1 on the year. Stevens remains undefeated in the league with a 5-0 mark, while improving to 14-2 on the year.
The Ducks scored a goal in each half, with Victor Daza adding his team-leading 10th goal to put his team ahead 1-0. Daza scored at the 15:12 mark after Quinn Dunbar set him up with a ball through the Fisher defense.
Teammate Curtis Stecyk put the game out of reach when he doubled the Stevens lead with a tally in the 54th minute. Stecyk took a pass from Edward Rupp before dancing around in the box and pushing the ball past Fisher's
Kyle Metcalfe.
Metcalfe finished the game with six saves, while four Cardinals each tallied a shot on goal. Those were the only four shots for Fisher, as Stevens held a 12-4 advantage in the contest.
Fisher will remain at home for its next matchup, as the Cardinals face SUNY Geneseo at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
