Men's Soccer Shut Out by Nationally-Ranked Saints

Box Score

After holding the nation's leading offensive team scoreless on Saturday, the St. John Fisher College men's soccer team faced another tough challenge when it traveled to play No. 9 St. Lawrence University on Tuesday.  Unfortunately the highly-ranked Saints proved too much for the Cardinals, as Fisher fell 4-0 on  the road.  With the loss, Fisher is now 6-4-1 on the year while St. Lawrence moves to 10-1 overall.

Ozzy Moreles first got the home team on the board early when he blasted a rebound into the net in the seventh minute.  The goal came after Brian Gilloran took a shot that was blocked by the Fisher defense.

The Saints added three more goals in the second half, with Gilloran scoring the team's second goal.  Off a corner kick from Will Congdon, Gilloran was able to connect with his head, putting St. Lawrence up 2-0.

Fisher starting goalkeeper Kyle Metcalfe was replaced by Joshua Klein after that goal, but Klein was put to action immediately as the host added its third tally just 20 seconds after the new keeper stood in.  Metcalfe finished with nine saves, while Klein had one.

St. Lawrence added its fourth goal in the final seconds of the game, with Jeremiah Bunton scoring on another corner kick at 89:11, making it 4-0.

Only four shots were recorded for the visitors, as Garhett Varin, Stefan John, Matt Silvi and Brendan Kazmierski were credited.

The Cardinals will stay on the road for their next game, as they travel to Empire 8 opponent Alfred University at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
