Field Hockey Falls to St. Lawrence in Near Wash-Out

The St. John Fisher College field hockey team lost to St. Lawrence University 3-1 tonight at Growney Stadium. Fisher falls to 1-7 on the season.

St. Lawrence posted the first goal of the game well into the first half as Courtney Davis made the shot off a pass from Ashley Ferenczy. The Cardinals held the Saint's to ten shots during the first half as Fisher's keeper Kellie Redmond made three saves for the Cardinals to trail by one at halftime.

After the two weather delays due to lighting and issues with the playing surface, the Saints wasted no time and came out the gates eager to jump ahead as Ericka Swits recovered the ball off a rebound shot for the second goal of the game. Ten minutes later, St. Lawrence's Courtney Davis connected a pass to Emily Riley for the third tally of the night.

Fisher continued to be determined, looking to post a goal on the scoreboard and did so after Stacie Skidmore rebounded the ball and scored her first goal of the season.

Despite the 26 total shots, Redmond stopped 11 shots to keep the game tight.

Fisher will return to action at 12 p.m. Saturday October 10 as they host Washington & Jefferson in an Empire 8 conference matchup.
