The St. John Fisher College men's soccer team was defeated by the host Ithaca College Bombers 1-0 in an afternoon Empire 8 showdown. With the loss, Fisher falls to 1-5 (0-1) while Ithaca improves to 1-3-1 (1-0).
Ryan Norland scored the lone goal of the match in the 39th minute. Off of a corner kick, Norland deposited a header to give Ithaca their first win of the season.
Fisher was unable to put much pressure on the Ithaca goal, as Austin Buckley and Matt Silvi recorded the only two shots on goal for Fisher. Kyle Metcalfe made three saves for the Cardinals in the loss.
The Cardinals will return to action at 1 p.m. on Sunday when they host the SUNY Potsdam Bears.
