Field Hockey Falls to Elmira

The St. John Fisher College field hockey team opened conference play with a loss to host Elmira 2-0 on Saturday afternoon. With the loss Fisher's record goes to 1-4 overall and 0-1 in the Empire 8.

Despite matching the Soaring Eagles in both shots and shots on goal, FIsher could not find the back of the net. Kellie Redmond stopped nine shots for the Cardinals in goal while Elmira goalie Lauren Thomas finished with 10 saves.

On offense the Cardinals were led by forward Stacie Skidmore's five shots on goal, none of which could find its way in the net. Marissa Vedella had two shots on goal to try in Fisher's efforts.

The field hockey team will return to action on Wednesday at 5 p.m. when they travel to face RPI.
