Nearly 500 fans turned out to see the first-ever field hockey game in St. John Fisher College history. The Cardinals, however, weren't able to deliver a win, as University of Rochester
defeated Fisher 4-0 at Growney Stadium on Thursday night.
The Yellowjackets (1-0) took the early lead, scoring less than three minutes into the contests. Rochester scored one more goal in the first half to take a 2-0 lead at intermission, and tacked on two second-half goals to seal the win.
For Fisher, freshman goalie
Kellie Redmond made 13 saves, including eight in the second half.
Fisher will return to action at 7 p.m. on Tuesday and will host Houghton College, before hitting the road for five straight games.
