Baseball, Men's Lacrosse And Softball Return To Action

It's a big day for three of St. John Fisher College's athletic programs.

The nationally-ranked and currently undefeated men's lacrosse team travels to Ithaca College for a 4 p.m. matchup in the Empire 8 Conference season opener for both teams.  Fisher (7-0) is currently ranked 12th nationally, while the Bombers (4-1) are 25th.  The Cardinals will be looking to avenge last year's season-ending loss, a 12-11 upset-victory for Ithaca over No. 1 Fisher in the 2010 Empire 8 Conference Championship Semifinals.

Here at Fisher, both the baseball and softball teams are in action on the South Campus.

At 3 p.m., baseball hosts Keuka College for one 9-inning game.  The Cardinals (8-4) have won their last five games and will be playing in their home opener today at Dugan Yard.

The softball team, who hit five home runs yesterday and scored 21 runs in a doubleheader-sweep of Medaille College, hosts cross-town rival University of Rochester for a 3 p.m. doubleheader.  The Yellowjackets swept Fisher last year, winning both games by a 3-1 margin.

Stuck at work or in class?  Think it's too cold to go to the game, even though there isn't a cloud in the sky?
