The St. John Fisher field hockey team
dropped a 5-0 decision to host SUNY Brockport in a non-conference match this afternoon. With the loss, Fisher drops to 1-9, while Brockport improves to 7-4.
Brockport sent Fisher into halftime with a two-goal hole, after scoring twice late in the first half. Kelly-Ann Henry got on the board at 21:22, and then added another nearly 10 minutes later to put the Golden Eagles up 2-0.
Fisher looked to decrease the deficit early in the second half, but
Marissa Vedella was denied by the post.
However, Brockport was able to build on its lead by scoring three more goals to make the game 5-0. That score would hold for the rest of the game, as Fisher was unable to get on the board in the contest. Madison Buckley and Danielle Henck added goals, while Henry completed her hat trick in the 49
th minute.
Fisher was outshot 18-6 in the contest, with a 9-1 shots on goal difference.
Fisher will return to action at 1 p.m. on Saturday when it hosts Hartwick College for an Empire 8 matchup. The Cardinals will be looking for their first Empire 8 win in the program's history.
