The St. John Fisher women's tennis team
defeated host Elmira College 6-3 on Sunday afternoon. With the win, Fisher improves to 5-4 on the season and 3-2 in the Empire 8.
In the singles matches,
Elena Vahl only allowed one game to her opponent, and easily won 6-0, 6-1.
Katie Pasier and
Sania Zaki both won at second and third singles by a score of 6-4, 6-3, while Jenna Lehner won at fifth singles with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 score.
Kim Phimsipason rounded out the singles victories with a hard fought battle that was determined in a tie break. Phimsipason was victorious with a 3-6, 6-0, 7-6 (8-6) decision.
The duo of Pasier and
Jordan Brungard won the only match in doubles play, coming out on top by a score of 8-2.
Fisher will return to action at 2 p.m. on Tuesday when they host Ithaca College at the Mendon Racquet Club.
