Field Hockey Drops Close Contest to Ithaca

The Fisher field hockey team lost 2-1 to host Ithaca College today. With the loss, Fisher, playing in its inaugural season, falls to 1-12 overall and 0-5 in the Empire 8 Conference, while Ithaca improves to 3-9, 2-3.

Heather Kozimor scored both goals for the Bombers, with her first coming 11 minutes into the contest.  Twenty minutes later, Kozimor added her second on a shot from near the arc that went in on the left post past Fisher goaltender Kellie Redmond. The first half goals would prove to be enough to take down the Cardinals.

Fisher cut the lead to 2-1 early in the second half, when Taylor Parker knocked in a rebound in the 40th minute past Ithaca's Kelly Singleton.  However, Fisher was unable to find the net again and the Bombers were able to pull out the close victory.

Ithaca outshot Fisher 20-15, however both keepers made 10 saves for their respective teams.  Parker led the Cardinals with six shots, while Stacie Skidmore added five of her own.

Fisher will close out the 2011 season with a four-game home-stand, starting on at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, as the Cardinals host The College at Brockport.
