The St. John Fisher College
men's soccer team had a late comeback at Elmira College today, resulting in a 1-1 tie after two overtime periods was not enough to find a winner. Fisher is now 3-6-1 on the season and 1-1-1 in the Empire 8 Conference. The Cardinals gave Elmira its first blemish of the season, as the Soaring Eagles were 9-0 coming into Saturday's game.
Stefan John gave the Cardinals their only goal in the 87th minute in the upper left corner off a pass from
Garhett Varin.
The Cardinals dominated the Soaring Eagles in most statistical categories on the afternoon. Fisher outshot Elmira 13-to-9 in the game and took five more corner kicks than its opponent. Despite dominating the stats, Fisher still found itself down late after Elmira scored early in the second half.
Fisher will return to action on at 4 p.m. Friday when they host East-Ave rival Nazareth College.
