The St. John Fisher College women's tennis team
defeated Alfred University 7-2 on the road on Tuesday to earn its first Empire 8 Conference win of 2010.
The Cardinals dominated in doubles, grabbing all three points in the doubles line up.
Elena Vahl paired with newcomer Kathryn Pasier to work to a 9-7 win at first doubles. Senior
Katie Catalano teamed up with
Marissa Rotondo to pick up an 8-5 win at second doubles, while
Katelyn Smith and
Jordan Brungard earned an 8-3 win at third.
In singles action, Pasier earned a 6-2, 7-5 win at third, while Smith earned the deciding point with a decisive 6-4, 6-0 win at fourth. Rotondo and Brungard added wins at fifth and sixth singles.
The Cardinals return to action as they host Roberts Wesleyan College on Friday at 3:30 p.m. at the Fisher Courts.
